Horses are very, very hard to draw.

My dear friend Bevin commissioned me to do a drawing of her horse Murphy. I admit, I'd never drawn a horse before, and it took me a whole messload of tries to get it right. I spent some time sketching out horses, trying some in watercolour, trying some in graphite, and nothing was working right.

It was driving me crazy. I just couldn't capture the horse's personality. I knew this particular horse was her baby and wanted to get it right. Finally I got one. I worked it in straight-up pencil and charcoal yesterday, and I am very proud of it.

I'm not 100% on horse anatomy yet, but it's a start. I love how Murphy came out this time.
